If you love beautiful racing pigeons then Sions should be seriously considered. Paul Sion, during the 1920's and 30's, a wealthy and well educated fancier who created them---living in Tourcoing, France---a man owning great taste and an eye for detail---devoted his life in selectively breeding for performance and beauty. His Sions dominated Europe. Became famous world wide.
Those original pure Paul Sions in France, during the 1930's, before the outbreak of World War 2, were exported to Charles Heitzman in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. Charles Heitzman---also, a successful business person of high intelligence, owning great taste and an eye for detail---devoted his long life selectively breeding for performance and beauty. His achievements became famous world-wide.
Then finally. Beginning in 1959. Continuing through the 1960's and 70's. Those same Paul Sion-Heitzman Sions came to Heitzman's greatest admirer, student and part-time loft manager, Earl Lowell "Robbie" Robbins, Jr., Richmond, Kentucky. AKA "NO SWEAT." An anthropologist and best selling author. Writing under the pen name "NO SWEAT."
I am "No Sweat." You can find me on the you tube videos. I have wound up spending more time with Sions than anyone who has ever lived. I remain the youngest person ever to win the National Racing Pigeon Show in White Plains, New York. Also becoming the first person to win all three of the top-major racing pigeon shows in the USA all in the same year. The same fancier who entered the largest racing pigeon show in the United States then called the Southern Racing Pigeon Show. Entering that show seven times and winning BEST IN SHOW all seven times. I am the same fancier who has set world records with young birds flying them long distances. Four different times I have had YOUNG BIRDS come home from 700 air miles. My carefully bred family of Sions have set long distance records in China winning at 1,000 KM. I have had yearlings fly back from Key West, Florida back to my lofts in Richmond, Kentucky. 1,000 air miles. The last time I raced in Victoria Falls in Africa it was my small team of Sions which wound up being FIRST BEST TEAM for the entire USA. In all, over 1,500 first places.
No family of racing pigeons as the Sions have earned such a rich and long history. No family of racing pigeons have won more over open water. Over every kind of terrain. At all different speeds. I am now entering his 68th straight year working with Sions. Throughout these years I have created my own family within them. "THE NO SWEAT SIONS." These are the by far the finest true old Sions alive in the world today. They are the Sions of the future. Sions which can and do win against any racing pigeons TODAY anywhere in the world.
