DEAR SION FRIENDS, thank you for visiting my website. I appreciate your interest in my close-bred family of long distance Sions which I honestly believe to be the most beautiful and finest long distance racing pigeons now in all the world. And certainly, the best family of true old Sions which you could today ever begin to hope to see. I enjoy your friendship and brotherhood in the racing pigeon sport more than you could ever know. I have devoted my life to this single great family of Sions, and now, after Paul Sion and Charles Heitzman have worked with them all their lives until their deaths, I find myself that one person who loves them just as much, if not more. And I am convinced that if I remain on the careful breeding path based on performance in which I follow, this close-bred family of Sions will assuredly continue to gain a great reputation all over the world just as they have been steadfastly doing this past several decades. Its all about a quality which surpasses all the other high quality racing pigeons. And to be able to breed Sions of that nature you really must have been around pigeons a good long while and in that time have observed and learned everything you possibly can. I would hope that my 63 years with Sions and having won over 1,000 placces with them at all levels of competition speaks well for itself. My goal has always been to breed babies from two birds which happen to be better than either of their parents---not always such an easy thing to do!
I delibertly decided NOT to breed my family of Sions early in 2021. Normally, I have all my matings together and all the lights turned on in all the lofts--24 hours a day for 7 days a week---beginning one week BEFORE Thanksgiving. That insures by the date that the new bands are sent to me that I will then have several young birds which will already be so big that I will have to use all my willpower to get a band on their leg. This year, I chose not to do that. I bred many young birds in 2020. And because of my breedig late into 2020, I decided that for the overall good health of the colony of my Sion family, that all the birds needed a decent and comfortable long rest. And that's just what I did--rested them. As experienced fanciers understand, happy birds are healthy birds and all this helps compute into having quality pigeons.
And so, it was mid-February when I basically decided to place many of my matings together. And it was at this same time that this region ofeastern Kentucky just happened to have one of its worst snow and ice Febreuary's in all of its history. I did NOT have on ANY lights in any of the five lofts which I maintain and all of these lofts became so snow and ice laden as to have them appear as igloos. And that is what they almost were. And me that Eskimo out there attempting to break ice!
Anyways, the bottom line is this, I got off to the slowest start in just about all my life with racing pigeons. It was well into March before I began to see many eggs and even in that, many of those eggs had managed to go "bad" from the inevitable exposure of the horrid- bleak weather conditions. So now, here in mid May, I am finally happy to report that yes, THE NO SWEAT SION LOFTS are all back in full breeding production and going as usual. Thank heavens! And it is because of this late start that I now plan to breed well into the summer of 2021, hopefully to create a new 2021 Young Bird Race team which ---per usual---to train out to 500 miles. It has been a tradition here at the No Sweat SION Lofts to always get all the Young birds trained out to AT LEAST 500 miles each and every year. Sometimes, farther. Sometimes---as you can see on YOU TUBE videos--even 700 miles for YOUNG BIRD releases!! Which, by the way, happen to be WORLD RECORD long distances for YOUNG BIRDS! I breed Sions which are loved by everyone who see and handle them. Many of my nice Sions are blue bars, some are silver bars and a few are brick reds. All of them going straihght back to the most famous and best original Sion racing pigeons which Paul Sion ever bred and flew himself! You cannot find truer Sions than what I maintain!
This year in 2021, The No Sweat Sion Lofts are very happy and excited to announce to the pigeon world that we have an entry in the WORLD's most prestigeous Young Bird Race---and that is THE VICTORIA FALLS RACE in Africa! Originally, there were nearly 10,000 Young Birds entered and about 7,600 of those managed to be settled into the loft. As of this moment in which I am writing, there are now some 6,000 Young birds reportedly still there and being trained. The very best in all the world going against the very best in all the world, so naturally, I am excited about my NO SWEAT SIONS. And if you would like to review and see just how well they are doing this year, please go to their website and look under my entered loft name which is: "NO SWEAT SION SYNDICATE." That syndicate is composed of John Wesley Jennings and myself. And the big-final main race will take place late in July.
ADDITIONALLY, THE NO SWEAT SION LOFTS also have entries in what is now the single biggest and best known YOUNG BIRD RACE IN ALL OF THE UNITED STATES, which is called, THE HOOSIER CLASSIC. I drove my entries up to the race with my old pigeon friend, John McQuithy---he and I have had pigeons and have been pigeon friends now for over 60 years-----and when we got to the HOOSIER CLASSIC LOFT, we were treated exceptionally nice by Jim, who is the main man there. I was most impressed with everythig he has accomplished and is doing. And as of today, it appears that he will have at least 4,000 young birds which will be in this race. Those birds coming from the best of the best lofts all over North Amrica and the world! Again, it will be exciting to see just how my old family of close-bred Sions, THE NO SWEAT SIONS, wind up doing on their last and final race which I believe takes place in October. If you are interested in seeing how they are doing, look under the name of SCOTT CHESTER from Montana. Scott has proved to be a wonderful friend!
And the way I figure, if you race in the biggest and best Young Bird race in all the world and also race in the biggest and best Young Bird race in the United States--well, that should be "racing enough" to genuinely know just how honestly true and good your young birds that year were in comparison to everyone else. That, and the hopes that I also will be getting to take out a team of my own Young Birds and train and release them out to 500 miles to see for myself which birds are the best. Superior long distances will assuredly find for you the superior best racing pigeons! All of this combined, is what THE NO SWEAT SIONS are all about this year when it comes to racing. Racing against the very finest racers that can be found, PERIOD!!!
I am nowgoing to download a group of new photos for you with this new information on my HEITZMAN SION website, These are all photographs of which I took of my Sions over the past month-- they are new photos for you to see and judge. I now have OVER 3,000 photographs of my Sion family on THE HEITZMAN SION website. I would hope that you might explore all of the photos as well as all of the text. If you do, it will give you a good "feel" for the quality of racing pigeon which is demanded at The No Sweat Sion Lofts compund. The finest Sions which are bred, are bred here. Period. If you appreciate a truly beautiful racing pigeon which competes in racing at the highest and strongest competition in all the world---YOUNG BIRDS that fly back from world record long distances of 700 air miles---then, you will enjoy studying these photos. They are much my life!
And if you explore the internet very much, you will easily also find several videos of THE NO SWEAT LOFTS on YOU TUBE. The last one was made on December 11, 2020 and has already received over 10,000 hits. I do plan to make several more in the near future as I have fanciers all over the world asking me to do so.
I am always BEST reached by an email. Sending me an email is a definite way of contacting me. And that is what I most like. But here is more contact information which I hope you will use if you are interested in speaking with me about Sions. I am always happy to hear from any and everyone.
