Hello--great greetings--- and welcome to all you fine fanciers and friends who are interested in visiting my website devoted to Sions which are the finest racing pigeons in history --- and remain so today! And I like to believe--- I have been an intregal part in why the Sions are remaining at the top today. I hope that you will take time to look at these newest photos of my Sios. I will say no moe than that. Let's hope you look at all the pictures and come away with the same conclusions I own.
I have now won over 1,000 first places with Sions and have done so at every level of competition all over the world and throughout the USA. I do not know what it takes to become "a legend" but I should believe that after 63 years with these phenominal birds along with winning national and international titles that today the NO SWEAT SIONS are well known to be the finest long distance family of racing pigeons in the world.
These are those same gorgous racing pigeons which are noted for racing supreme long-distances. Setting long distance records flying out over nothing but the ocean in the Canary Islands! YOUNG BIRDS coming back from world record 700 air mile long distances! Winning 700 KM and 1,000 KM races in China! Winning major long distances againsty stiff competition in NEW YORK and Baltimore, Texas and Indiana----- and so many different states with various topography and geological differences. Breeding young birds that go on to win major long distance races in JAPAN. Racing and beating the very best in all the world in the South Africa Races! Racing and flying exceptional in smash races in the biggest race series in the USA--The Indiana Hoosier Classic! Their feats go on and on. And performing all this NOW---TODAY! Not years ago.
These are the same Sions which Paul Sion in France created and then my mentor, Charles Heitzman imported into the USA. These are those same birds which I have molded into what is now truly my own family of Sions: THE NO SWEAT SIONS. Heitzman told me, "If you are the person which has bred every single pigeon in a bird's pedigree for four generations or more, then you can rightfully prolaim those pigeons to be of your own design and your own family." And certainly, now, as I enter into my 64th year with SIONS, I can claim as much. I have had the old family of Sions longer than anyone who has ever had them in history. Longer than did Paul Sion and longer than did Charles Heitzman.
But I never forget that it was because of those two men being devoted to this one great family of pigeons that I am where I am at with them today. Yes, Paul created them. And yes, Heitzman kept them pure and promoted them. And what I have accomplished has been to refine them. Concentrate far more on supreme long distances, and develop them more into my own balanced and distinct family in which they are of a uniform type.
I have been so very fortunate with Sions. They have opened the door to many friendships. I have met wonderful and iteresting people because of them. And no matter who I have met in life, sooner or later they all know me as that person with racing pigeons and those Sions I was fascinated with them when I was 7 years old and I am still more than ever fasicnated with them as I head toward my 71rst birthday. They were beautiful when I first saw them and I feel I have helped to make them even more beautiful than they have ever been. It is easy for me to go into my lofts and spend all day looking at them as so many seem to be perfect in all that they are, similar to the way you feel when you watch a hummingbird--you never tire of it. They somehow hold my boyhood and my dreams and help me lose all my worries and cares when I am with them. As though there is nothing else in all the world but them and that I am so fortunate to be a part of their world.
I started taking new photos of my Sions this summer and I have been taking many photos of them since. I try to stay current with my Sions for YOU. So that you are keeping up with all that is happeneing with my family of racing pigeons almost as it occurs. I even took many photographs yesterday. I do this in hopes that when I post these photos on my website that all the world will also get to see what I do and see just how beautiful they are, And to think that these gorgeous Sions also have earned a world reputation for being that one strain of racing pigeons with great heart and stamina, often managing to come back home when all other pigeons fall to the wayside. Coming back home from extreme long distances. Almost as if our most handsome movie stars were also our gold medal winners in the olymics! That's the true old Sions. And there may be a few Sions out there somewhere that someone says is a Sion and it might be true and it might not be true---but whatever---they certainly do not begin rival what I demand and maintain in this single great colony of Sions. No way. And much of this is because I devote my life to these birds. Spending my life with them. And money. And even when I am not there physically with them--somehow, I am always with them. In my thoughts, dreams and in every way a man can be with anything. The Sions are very much who I am. And as much a part of me as is my poor self can possibly own.
At the end of August, my friend, "BUTTERCUP" shot another YOU TUBE video of me discussing my life with Sions. That video is easily found on the net with many other videos of me:
HEITZMAN SIONS YOU TUBE.
And there are videos of me releasing my young birds at 700 miles:
700 MILES YOUNG BIRD RELEASE NO SWEAT YOU TUBE
And this website itself, if you will take the time to carefully explore all that it contains, now has OVER 3,000 photograhs of my Sions. There has now been over a QUARTER OF A MILLION people who have "hit" on this website. Making this one of the most noted racing pigeon websites in the world. Yes, I have done what I can to show the world my family of NO SWEAT SIONS and the response has been incredible. There is not a single day in which someone new does not email, write or call me to talk about Sions. I may have taught them a a little but certainly, I myself have learned so incedibly much as well. Many older fanciers calling to tell me about their glory days with Sions or their experiences with Charles Heitzman.
It may well be that you might want Sions to race and that would be smart as they did not earn their reputation by not being extremely fine birds. BUT at the same time, as I relay to so many people, there is nothing wrong in just having them and enjoying them on your own. You do not have to race your dog or cat in order to love it. It seems we have somehow lost a great deal of "innocence" in our sport from when I first began back in the 1950's, There is so much more of a "darker wind" which howls in the air among so many tainted fanciers and so much of it rotates only about money. I see pigeons not as loved as they once were. They have somehow become "objects" rather than beautiful lives with which are so fortunate in getting to share.
And I am not so thriled about all the fine photographs of today's racing pigeons which basically has every one of those birds standing exactly like some other bird. Monkey see monkey do. All of them in some kind of rather-fake attention. Everything exactly the same over and over. And in all this photo-promting and all else, I sense again a certain degree of getting away from what is "real." I try to show my Sions pigeons in a realistic way and in a way in which I love and admire and know them to be. Not statues.
If anyone ever wants to reach me, do so. I m always available. Happy to talk about racing pigeons. I will continue throughout my breeding season later than normal, going well into all of September nd possibly early October before I consider splitting up my Sions.
I am thankful that I have shared my life with Sions. I hope that I have not let them down. No other strain of racing pigeons in the world could have made me feel the way about pigeons as I do about them. They are special birds. Smart. Beautiful. Everything you could ever want in a racing pigeon.
Contact me day or night. Any time on any day. I will do my best to get back with you. PLEASE note, it is ALWAYS BEST to try to reach me by email. I read my emails several times every day.
